Help on trying to understand bitcoin for my science fair.

I'm thinking of making my science project about Bitcoin. The main question is whether Bitcoin is truly worth investing in. But I want to do this right, so I did a bit of research, and I wanted to see if any of y'all could confirm and tell me if my understanding of Bitcoin mining is correct. So, from what I've read, Bitcoin mining is the process in which a mining computer generates a hash where, if the difficulty is set to 4 by the Bitcoin network and the hash starts with 4 or more zeros, then it is valid, and the mining computer receives Bitcoin. Please correct me if I got anything wrong or if I worded anything incorrectly. Also, if y'all think there's anything else I should learn about Bitcoin for my project please tell me so. Thank you.
